Of Theories and Applications on Love

Posted by Unknown with 2 comments
What is love?

A question too stretched out, too asked on, too common that it is actually one of the most popularly searched topics in the Web. Different individuals have given their own takes on it— some were credible, some were not. Even great philosophers, thinkers, scholars, have given their own thoughts on it. Search on topics that contain it and you’d find several links containing it.

It cannot be denied then that people are scratching their heads off, trying to find out on what love really is. Thus, as time passes, the question becomes a cliché, an all-too-familiar question that still has no definite answer.

I find it funny, y'know, the fact that people are fussing about what is the definition of love, yet they have never even thought on asking about what does it take to really love someone? Or, how do you love someone?

We are too caught up finding theoretical explanations for everything, but never really minding about how to put those theories into application

For some, they might think, “Hey, love is temporal. So why waste time making it last?”

For others, they simply rely on their belief that as they go along with the relationship, they’d just find the answer on how to perfectly love their partners.

And as with the others, for them it is much easier to just ride along with the relationship and try to keep things the way their partner prefers it to be, just so conflicts can be avoided.

But then again, DO YOU REALLY WANT TO BE JUST LIKE THESE "OTHERS"

It is easy to declare the words, “I love you,” but acting on those words— that is the difficult part. We are only human, and our human nature and tendencies tend to fail us. So then, what do we do with that? How do we deal with our humanness while striving to become the ULTIMATE LOVER in the entire multiverse?

While discussing this topic with a friend from Aussie, which by the way is a very awesome guy (if you want his contact info., feel free to ask me!), we tried to figure out what could be the best steps or guidelines we can follow to perfectly love someone.

Well, what we chose was pretty credible since it came from the most widely-read book worldwide and is also the topmost bestseller of all time: The Bible.

It is a widely known verse and is taken from -

1 Corinthians 13:5. Mushy as it may be, here it goes:

Love is patient, love is kind
It does not envy, it does not boast.
It is not proud.
It is not rude, it is not self-seeking,
It is not easily angered; It keeps no record of wrongs
Love does not delight in evil; but rejoices with the truth
It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Simple as these rules may seem to be, I know it’ll take forever for anyone to engrave it in his/her system and achieve perfection in giving it out. But then again, loving requires learning, isn’t it?!

There is no perfect relationship, just 2 imperfect people who truly want to work things out by growing and learning with each other.

So that in the end, when things do not end up to be a happily-ever-after chorva, you would be able to say that, "you have truly loved in the best-est way that you know how and could." :D

  1. I guess love is too profound to be defined. And it's quite relative too. And it's something you don't know; you just feel it. :)

    1 Corinthians 13 - super love! :)

    1. I hope there's a like button for comments so I can just like your comments, ate kikit! :) yes, it is something felt. one moment it isn't there, and in a flash, you can just feel it. It's a matter of choosing to hold on to it or to just let it wane away. :D
