What Came Out of My Season of Singlehood

Posted by Unknown with No comments
In the past, I set out on endeavors which I think will lead me to an esteemed lifestyle and status that will match up to that of my then-boyfriends. In my great desire to fit in and be loved, I changed who I am to please them. I reshaped my identity thinking that it will make me become the person I thought others would want to be with. But in the end, all of these stripped me down to a broken and disfigured piece of nothing, with no real idea on who she is and what she wants to be.

Which is why after 3 failed relationships, I finally decided to stop the endless cycle of going into half-baked partnerships that will most likely bring me down and destroy me. Instead, I set out to conquer my dreams and goals—independently and with no boyfriend in tow.

Below is the same letter I would be writing for my future lover. Thanks, Marianna, for putting the right words that will encapsulate my thoughts. You're awesome. :)

I Don't Want my Brother to Grow Up

Posted by Unknown with 6 comments
This evening was weird.

One minute I was looking at my brother and the next thing I know, here I am writing this blog entry about him and the fears I have of him growing up.

I don’t want him to grow up, however, a part of me knows I have to gear myself up for that inevitable day. As a matter of fact, he is even taller than me now (Yes, genetic distribution is definitely unfair). Long gone is that little baby I used to dress up in crazy little outfits and the baby whose little tummy I used to blow to make him giggle incessantly (Damn, I really miss that baby. :c)
In front of me is a boy who will one day be having crushes (Geez… pwede postpone muna yang uyab2x part?). I couldn’t set aside the fact that he is now growing up into a teenager who would soon be a man.

As much as I would want to keep him as the little brother I do my very best to protect, I know that the time will come when I have to let him go to make his own path, learn about life and protect himself on his own.

I have to start learning how to not meddle when he gets into trouble and to not solve the problems he will encounter.  I have to stop myself from babying him all the time and to start treating him as a teenager who knows how to think for himself.
Moreover, I have to learn how to give him the space he needs to decide on his own and to see for himself what benefits or consequences these decisions he would be making would entail.

Maybe the reason why I fear about my brother getting hurt is that I know for myself how hard this life can be. Much more when I reached high school and college wherein I have made several decisions I now wished I hadn’t made.

I don’t want my brother to go through what I have gone through and to commit the mistakes I had, however, I know it is inevitable. He has to go through all those for him to be strong enough to face the world as an adult and as a father, when time comes that he will have his own family.

Reminding him of little lessons won’t be enough, because I might remind him over and over again, and he still might choose not to listen to me.

All I can do now is trust that he remembers all the things I’ve taught him in facing some of the challenges that he might come face to face with in time.
I have to believe that we have brought him up with good morals, principles and values that will guide him as he makes decisions for himself.
I have to have faith in him to have a conscience that will know what is right from wrong.

But then again, I might not be there to solve his problems for him or be the one who will get him out of trouble, but nevertheless, I will be one of the persons he can rely and depend on to always be there for him when the going gets tough and be his lookout when things get a bit awry.

I will be the person who will help him in every step of the way and be the first person to congratulate him in his successes.

I will be his 3rd most avid fan, following after God and our parents, who will support him and encourage him to be the best he can be.

Yes, I have to let him go for now, but that doesn't mean I won't be around the corner, waiting for him to come around when he has finished exploring and experiencing the ups and downs of life. I will just be around the corner, ready to assist him and be at his aid when needed.

And of course, I will be that meticulous sister who will go through all his future love interests to check whether they are worthy enough of him
(Yes, pihikan ako. Only the best for him. Bitches not allowed.).

Soon enough,  we will be sitting together, while having coffee and playing board games, and reminiscing on the crazy things we used to do back then.

I am his big sister and
he will forever be my little brother.

PS: I am so emo tonight. Whyyyyyyy is this?

Rediscovering the Joy of Watching Cartoons

Posted by Unknown with 4 comments
For the past months since 2nd semester has started, I remember doing nothing but watching cartoons while making my way out of heaps and tons of schoolwork.

Well, except for those instances wherein I have to be deployed in several areas in Davao Oriental (Cateel, Baganga, Mati, Surigao del Sur) etc., for data gathering and research for my subjects; most of my time was spent with my brother, watching reruns of cartoons and kids’ shows

2013: 10 RESOLUTIONS, EH?!

Posted by Unknown with 6 comments
So, there goes another year... 2012.

Time to let go of things... hmm.. Worth leaving behind. There's something about New Years that excites me. No, it is not about Western and Chinese astrological predictions and yada-yada--- which I think both holds a certain element of truth to them. But hey, that's far from what I am trying to say here...

For me, a new year is a time to start anew. To regenerate. To detoxify. To overhaul. It is just inevitable that along the path of growth, I get a deeper sense of self and get to discover more about other aspects of who I am which I never uncovered before. Thus, although my style and physical look rarely changes, the experiences and goals I have always do.

A Shoutout to Single Girls

Posted by Unknown with No comments

How can things be so unfair? When a guy is single, available, and all over the place; he’s coined as a bachelor. The type of guy who would be difficult for ladies to snag because he’d always be unpredictable, unattainable, and infamous. He is the man that every girl would chase for, simply because, he's the one that all the other girls want.

On the other hand, when a girl is single— she'd most likely be referred to/seen as the “unwanted” one-- the average type whose looks can make guys look or glance her way, but would still come short in making them want to have a relationship with her. See the disparity?

MOVE. [Next Stop: SHOOT.] :D

I love the feeling of having my fingers wrapped around the rubber cover that wraps up my steering wheel. The feeling of control, power, and excitement fills me up!

I want and long for the speed, the movement, the uncertainty. I covet for the feeling of having to go to places wherein I will be the one who would be in control of where I go to. The feeling of being unleashed, the feeling of independence… awesome!

15 Notes to Self to Take Note Of

Posted by Unknown with 2 comments
I can't recall how many false alarms of the so-called "END OF THE WORLD" I have encountered in my life. My my... even I am wondering how I was able to survive all those and still be here writing this blog. People really have their own way of designing how their lives end up to be. They indulge in the task of crafting their own lives and dying to know how it's supposed to end up.

As far as I am concerned, I have had my short life laid out for me back when I was 13 years old. I was diagnosed with "something-I'd-rather-not-tell-since-it was-supposed-to-kill-me-at-age-17". All I know is... I got out of it-- alive and kickin' and more than willing to enjoy what life has to offer rather than putting limits to my own happiness or wasting my time designing how it was supposed to end up.

Addiction v.1

Posted by Unknown with 2 comments
Piercings.

It's weird how I get this natural high out of having myself pierced. For the record, I've had 6 piercings within a month--  3 on each ear.

It's not that I'm into turning myself into some sort of a boho-rebel what-not or a perpetual masochist who is into making my body a temple of metallic adornments; I just love having myself pierced
I'm addicted to the rush of having the needle pierce through my skin. Those moments in between, where both anticipation and fear pulls me to opposite sides. However, pleasure overrides logic

Gone were the fear of infection, scars, blood, and whatnot. The only feeling that remains is that of want. The desire to have another piercing onto an over-pierced ear that just cannot get enough of it.

Juy's (Spazzin') Fish Fillet

Tuesday.

Supposedly, this is  the day of my enrollment; however, things always have its weird way of screwing your plans for the day. It was force majeure, oh alright, fine, I admit it, it was really my fault why plans got screwed up.

Due to my chronic forgetfulness and rashness, I ended up leaving my ID. &without it, I can't enter the campus premises nor have myself enrolled.

Bummer.
Because of the unexpected turn of events, I found myself: shopping at DCLA, pigging out at Gino's burger, and indulging on Merco's strawberry parfait (where I also bumped ways with an old friend)

That didn't end there, for as I was on my way home to get a much-needed rest, I decided to whip up...

Just my Kind of Guys. ;)

Posted by Unknown with No comments
dad-nd-bryce I love 2 guys.

Oh yes, I’ve been with them for quite a long time. The moments we spent together, the laughter we imbue, the spontaneity that fills us up—gee, being with them just turns me nuts.

Oh well, I’m not the typical goodie-goodie, who won’t hurt a fly, or a human being at that. I plead guilty for actually inflicting harm on the both of them; but well, they just can’t stop themselves but forgive me. HAHA!

But seriously, these guys are 2 of the most yielding persons that I’ve ever known. They are temperate, hate boisterous events, and love to indulge themselves in simple thrills— which made them even more lovable in my eyes. So let me tell you more about them…

Oh Lurrrve… Why Are You Such A Hassle?

Joker
So, here I am, 5 months after another ended relationship. (FYI: I have moved on, my friends are the ones who haven’t. LOL!)

I have forgotten how many times I’ve cursed love and romance and all those sappy things— only to end up in it again.

Maybe it is because I feel so loved and not to have anyone to share it with, makes everything less worthwhile? I mean, I love everyone— their quirks, idiosyncrasies, weirdness, habits, and all; for me, it is what makes existence in this world more… fun and unique! However, I could not just give my love to everyone, the way I do to a boyfriend, else, I’d end up looking like a modern-day Mother Teresa or Gandhi or…. an uber-hyper girl on dope. O___o

However, I always end up with someone who.. do not know me. Maybe they know me… a bit… but not really know, know me on a much deeper level. It is not that we do not jive, it’s that they could not understand the reason behind the things I do.

The values I keep. The dreams I nurture. The passions I have.

Of Theories and Applications on Love

Posted by Unknown with 2 comments
What is love?

A question too stretched out, too asked on, too common that it is actually one of the most popularly searched topics in the Web. Different individuals have given their own takes on it— some were credible, some were not. Even great philosophers, thinkers, scholars, have given their own thoughts on it. Search on topics that contain it and you’d find several links containing it.

It cannot be denied then that people are scratching their heads off, trying to find out on what love really is. Thus, as time passes, the question becomes a cliché, an all-too-familiar question that still has no definite answer.

I find it funny, y'know, the fact that people are fussing about what is the definition of love, yet they have never even thought on asking about what does it take to really love someone? Or, how do you love someone?

Finding Pleasure in Loneliness

Posted by Unknown with 3 comments
It’s grueling to play the role of an independent gal, when a part of me tells me that I long to be with somebody. It is arduous to be this go-to person who’d be all too-willing to talk about the perks of being single to my single friends and teaching them tips on how to make single-hood (or single-blessedness) all worth it; when I know so well that I would rather be not single....

Alright. to make things clear: I love having someone around. Not just anybody, but SOMEBODY

Not just anyone, but THE ONE.

If You’re Happy and You Know It– SAY IT!!

Posted by Unknown with 3 comments

A thought randomly came into my mind tonight:

I AM HAPPY!

I AM HAPPY WITH WHAT I’VE BECOME.
I AM HAPPY WITH EVERYTHING I HAVE GONE THROUGH.
I AM VERY MUCH HAPPY WITH MY LIFE RIGHT NOW.

How come I was not able to realize that thing on a daily basis? I am a happy person, well, most of the time that is. You’d rarely see a frown plastered on my face, plus, you’d usually see me in my dorky-goofy-blithe state. However, it is NOT USUAL for me to affirm the fact that I am happy at a certain moment, minute, second, millisecond, blahblahblah. So this thought hitting me so randomly and me telling you, people about it– IT MADE ME FEEL SO NEW. LIBERATED. AWESOME! =]

Earrings. Guitars. Cappuccino. BROTHERS. ;)

Tired, lethargic, and without an internet connection. How unfortunate could I be on a Tuesday? Well, but then again, I always go with the mantra:

Carpe Diem (Seize the Day!)

Which is why, instead of wasting my time endlessly complaining about the situation I’m in, I allowed myself to indulge in the different things that never fail to plaster a smile on my face and put me on a jovial mood.

MUSIC. BOOKS. SHOTI (my cam).

Dollops of Reality. ;)

    THE SORRY

    Posted by with 3 comments
Cowardice to face the consequences of one’s actions is one of the most dreadful things to do. But the worst thing is not even having the guts to accept that we are wrong and facing up to it by saying sorry.
SORRY- just a 5 letter word. 2 syllables. Simple. Easy to say. But not everyone has the heart to speak it out. Human nature, maybe… that kept our pride, ego, and conceit to precede all other things that could have been good in us. Though nobody has died of choking for swallowing his/her own pride— mouthing this word have always been a great burden.

    Moms Know Best

Posted by Unknown with 3 comments
I remember when my mom used to say, “Stop, or you will hurt yourself.”

Most of the time she was right. And most of the time I did listen to her. But as I grew older, I realized she wasn’t always going to be there to tell me to stop. I had to learn to judge situations for myself and listen to myself when I say,

    “Enough is enough.”

Follow your bliss– and all else will follow

Being happy is not just a state that we all must obtain— but a way of life that we need to be consistent with. Our tendency to achieve happiness—lies in a lot of stuff, and it’s up to us to know what those are and use those for our own good.

This happiness can get rid of all the negativity that we allow ourselves to indulge in. This happiness will help us see the countless and endless beauty of everything that surrounds us, leaving us with no space to feel unsatisfied and unfulfilled. This happiness would be one of the key ingredients that we would need to finally live the life we want and make this world a better place to live in for everyone.
