Confessions 101: I am a Homebody

Posted by Unknown with 2 comments
It is funny how distorted the perceptions of others are about me. They think of me as a carefree woman with an insatiable desire to go out and wander endlessly. My friends see me as the perpetual tourist guide andreference person on what place would be a good travel destination. Blah blah and blah.
It is just funny because contrary to how others perceive me, I am actually a homebody.
Yes, you read that right, I'd rather be inside the confines of my home doing things I love than packing up my bags and going elsewhere.

If I were to be asked, nothing beats the feeling of lying in my own bed, ruffling my favorite sheets, lounging down on my plushy couch, and baking munchies and whipping up recipes in our kitchen. Surprising, huh? But that's actually the truth. Laid-back and casual, that's how I am- whether inside or outside.
Although I enjoy escaping the frivolities of daily living, I only consider traveling as a past time, not a lifestyle.
There's something about the outdoors that invites me and magnetizes me to discover and unravel what it holds. The thought of going to ubiquitous destinations excites me, much more so, doing spine-chilling activities worth jotting down in my journals.

I love meeting people, conversing with them, and discovering more of who they are based on their stories. I adore immersing myself into other cultures, trying different delicacies, and exploring the great unknown-- with no plan whatsoever of where to go next and what to do after.
When traveling, it is my nature to take the present as it is, enjoy it to the fullest, grab opportunities as they arise, and live with the awesome memories of the noteworthy experiences I had.

But then, all those things, could not encompass the happiness I feel of being in my own abode, surrounded with my loved ones, and having the things I hold closest to my heart just within my reach. Nothing beats having fun times with my parents, brother, and our adopted sister, the little Celeste, listening to some chill-out music or enjoying a round or two of board games. Nothing can compare to conversing with our kasambahays on how their day goes or about developments in their love life (haha. true story).  So on and so forth...

I love the feeling of having that one place I can always come back to, welcoming me back after all my wild sojourns. I love going back to the place where comfort, happiness, support, and warmth are freely given. I love going back to the people who, no matter how long time has passed, never falters in being there for me.
Yeah. There's no place like home.
...

I might get to taste hundreds of treats and munchies, meet thousands of people, travel tens of thousands of miles, see millions of different scenery; but in the end, I'd always still be going back to the place I consider home. :)
