Time to let go of things... hmm.. Worth leaving behind. There's something about New Years that excites me. No, it is not about Western and Chinese astrological predictions and yada-yada--- which I think both holds a certain element of truth to them. But hey, that's far from what I am trying to say here...
For me, a new year is a time to start anew. To regenerate. To detoxify. To overhaul. It is just inevitable that along the path of growth, I get a deeper sense of self and get to discover more about other aspects of who I am which I never uncovered before. Thus, although my style and physical look rarely changes, the experiences and goals I have always do.
I am not one who is a fan of coming up with New Year Resolutions, because I end up doing spur-of-the-moment things. However, the challenge of doing things I am not used to and the thrill that comes along with overcoming all hurdles excite me. Besides, this is the 1st year (since i've started having relationships)... In which I will be celebrating New Year as a single woman (HURRAH!), so I better devote this year for myself. Therefore, to mark another era in my life...
Here are my 10 resolutions for the year 2013:
- ACCOMPLISH AT LEAST 5 GOALS IN MY BUCKET LIST. I think it is time to be more serious with it. But first, be thrifty. Save up! And to do that...
- OWN LESS. LOVE MORE. Instead of buying things one after the other, I think it is best to tone down a little and be grateful for what I already have. It is always best to go for quality over quantity. Besides, it is always best to...
- KEEP THINGS SIMPLE. First things first: DETOXIFY. Whether it be on toxic commitments, objects, relationships, or people who are adding up negativity to my life. I don't need that/them, nor do I need drama and all those games. Take out whatever is bad, and focus more on what is good.
- SPEND MORE TIME WITH MY FAMILY. I've just come to an overdrawn epiphany that in our lives (this is more applicable to girls, though) we would be spending only around a quarter of it with our families. By the age of 25, most girls get married and are on their way to make their own families. So, instead of wasting away precious time and money for or with guys, I'd rather spend those for awesome getaways with my family. That'll be a lot more worthwhile.
- FOCUS. DO THINGS ONE AT A TIME. Cursed with the inability to say NO, I usually find myself heaped with a lot of responsibilities and tasks that needed to be done. Hence, to be able to do them all, I need to learn the art of multitasking and of course, the very difficult ability which I'm not successful with up to this day-- FOCUSING.
- LEARN HOW TO SAY NO. A friend once told me that I am too nice with rejection. That is why, even if I do mean it when I say no, others rarely take it as something serious. Moreover, with a bit of prodding and paawa moves, I end up taking back my NO and saying YES instead (I totally hate myself for that...) Therefore, I think it is time to be a bit more firm when I say NO.
- LOOSEN UP. I think this would also apply well with keeping my body in shape (in this case, round is still a shape, right?! haha!). It's time to be a bit more flexible and light. So, yoga or pilates. Anyone? :)
- EXPLORE MINDANAO. I've recently met someone who shares my passion in travelling. Currently, we are now jotting down possible places we are going to explore before he goes off to Australia. Why Mindanao? Well, it is always best to get to know your place first, before you go around exploring other places. So, good luck to the both of us, I guess. :D
- STICK TO MY PROMISE: NOT HAVE A BOYFRIEND UNTIL I GRADUATE. Well, as far as I can evaluate, I am doing a fair enough job with this. Thank goodness too that my would-be suitors were kind enough to understand my decision that I would not want anyone to court/woo me. I'd rather just have them as friends... and we'll take it from there. Besides, why hurry? The world is big and so are the possibilities. Love yourself first and just enjoy life. :)
- GROW UP. Come January something... i'd be 22 years old. I think it is time to raise up the bars and be more grown-up in the way I think, I decide, I dress, I act, I speak, and etc. Pretty soon, the world won't be as easy-peasy the way I used to see it. It is a dog-eat-dog world out there and it is always best to be prepared than end up to be the dog who is bawling over spilt milk. ;)
So, ta-ta! Goodluck to me, i think! ;)
